A Quick History of Seiko

The story of Seiko dates back to 1881, when Kintaro Hattori, a 21-year-old entrepreneur, opens a shop selling and repairing watches and clocks in central Tokyo.

Just 11 years later in 1892, Kintaro buys an old run down factory in Tokyo, marking the beginning of a watch company that today is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of timepieces.

The Seiko Presage Cocktail Time Collection

The Seiko cocktail time series was originally started in 2010 in collaboration with one of Japan’s top bartenders, Shinobu Ishigaki, the Founder and owner of Bar Ishinohana.

As the name suggests the Seiko cocktail time was designed to reflect the undertones of popular cocktails and the cosmopolitan bar scene.

Since 2010, the watches have become a staple in Seiko’s catalog.

The look in terms of the textured surface on the dial, with the dome of the hardlex crystal has captured the attention of watch collectors everywhere and made the cocktail time into a timeless hit.

In this article, we are going to take a look at 3 of the Seiko Presage Cocktail Time watches: the SRPB46, the SRPB41 and the SRPB77.

The Presage Cocktail Time SRPB46

The SRPB46 is an elegant dress watch in the lineup of Seiko Presage Cocktail Time. As its name implies, you will get the idea that it’s a classic watch just like the drink. Whether it’s the watch’s minimalist dial and brown leather strap or its 40.5 mm stainless steel case – this Seiko cocktail time is a perfect choice that you consider for a dress watch.

If we talk about the dial, its sunburst guilloche dial has a dazzling gradient brown hue. It’s dark around the edges and light and more vibrant in the middle. All of these features are complemented by rose gold-tone hour markers and hands.

And the Seiko automatic Caliber 4R35 movement with its 23 jewels self-winding and hacking features runs the watch. Also, you will be able to view the whole mechanism with its see-through caseback. The Presage Cocktail Time SRPB41

This Seiko Presage Cocktail Time watch also comes in a 40.5mm stainless case, 47mm from lug-to-lug, 12mm in height, and a matching stainless steel bracelet. It is a perfect everyday watch for work and play with a stunning blue gradient sunburst dial which is protected by a domed Hardlex crystal.

Although, the cocktail time lineup has similar dial textures, it has different colors. That’s why this is the Blue Moon variant with the blue radial gradient. Furthermore, the dial maintains its original look with polished silver-toned hands and index hour markers.

The SRPB41 is also powered by the in-house automatic Caliber 4R35 movement by Seiko. And contains the standard 41 hours of power reserve with the time setting and hand-winding features. Just like other cocktail time watches you can see the whole mechanism through its exhibition Hardlex caseback.

The Presage Cocktail Time SRPB77

This Seiko Presage Cocktail Time SRPB77 is also an outstanding watch that comes in a stainless-steel case with a 40.5mm diameter and a thickness of around 11.8mm.

In terms of its case design, the lugs measure 47mm and the whole case is polished to give it a stunning and exclusive look. Seiko has also used the Hardlex crystal in the SRPB77 watch and you can see the movement with its see-through case back.

The watch has a wonderful silver dial with a textured sunburst effect. And because of that, it radiates the light in an elegant way that is uncommon in other watches. It also has polished hour markers which are sharp and faceted.

The SRPB77 is also equipped with the in-house Seiko Caliber 4R35 with both manual winding function and hacking seconds for accurate time setting. The watch contains a 50m water resistance and a date window at 3 o’clock.

Additionally, the watch comes with a stainless steel H link bracelet with both brushed and polished elements that improve the overall comfort and elegance of the watch.
